The Hazelnut Weevil (Curculio nucum L.) in Hazelnut: Its Biology and Control
Keywords:
hazelnut, nut weevil, Curculio nucum, integrated protection, biological controlAbstract
Hazelnut (Corylus avellana L.) is considered one of the valuable nut crops widespread in the countries of Southern Europe. Among the phytosanitary problems in its cultivation, the nut weevil (Curculio nucum L.) is of particular importance as the most dangerous pest. This article describes the biological development cycle of the nut weevil, the damage it causes, methods for determining its density, and chemical and biological control measures. Analyses are given on reducing the negative impact on the agroecosystem through the use of integrated protection methods.
