Metabolism-related fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a highly prevalent condition strongly
associated with insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. Liver fibrosis is the most
important prognostic factor determining disease progression and long-term outcomes. The
triglyceride–glucose (TyG) index is a simple and cost-effective surrogate marker of insulin
resistance. Recent evidence suggests that the TyG index may be associated with liver
fibrosis severity in MAFLD patients. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between
TyG index and liver fibrosis stages in adults with MAFLD using biochemical markers and
noninvasive elastography.
