Abstract

This article analyses Alisher Navoi's epic "Farhad and Shirin" as a symbol of love and devotion. Through the images of the main characters, Farhad and Shirin, the ideas of true love, devotion and self-sacrifice are highlighted. The ideological and artistic features of the epic are also studied, along with the interpretation of Farhad as a hardworking and learned person. The article substantiates the place of the epic in Navoi's "Khamsa" and the aspects in which it differs from Nizami's version. In conclusion, it is emphasised that "Farhad and Shirin" is the highest artistic example of love and devotion.
