Annotatsiya

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy has recently attracted increasing
attention as an adjunctive regenerative treatment in otorhinolaryngology. PRP is an
autologous blood-derived product containing a high concentration of platelets and
biologically active growth factors that may stimulate tissue repair, angiogenesis,
epithelialization, and extracellular matrix remodeling. The postoperative period following
ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgery is often associated with inflammation, mucosal edema,
crust formation, pain, delayed epithelialization, and impaired tissue regeneration. Therefore,
the use of PRP may provide additional biological support for postoperative healing. This
article reviews current evidence concerning the application of PRP after nasal surgery,
endoscopic sinus surgery, myringoplasty, and tympanoplasty. Recent randomized clinical
trials have demonstrated beneficial effects of PRP on nasal mucosal healing, postoperative
crusting, nasal obstruction, and selected wound-healing parameters. Systematic reviews and
meta-analyses have also reported improved tympanic membrane closure and graft uptake
following PRP-assisted otologic surgery. However, considerable heterogeneity exists
regarding PRP preparation, platelet concentration, activation methods, application
techniques, and treatment protocols. Therefore, further well-designed randomized
controlled trials and standardized clinical protocols are required before PRP can be routinely
incorporated into postoperative ENT care.
